In February of 2004, The Fifes and Drums of York Town undertook a project to design, fund and build a new headquarters in Yorktown. Working with York County Government and the National Park Service, we identified a building parcel in the historic village and began developing architectural designs that would compliment the surrounding structures and still accomodate the needs of the Corps.

After several years of planning, a massive fund raising effort and months of volunteer and contract labor, on May 29th, 2006 the Fifes and Drums of York Town dedicated our new headquarters in the historic district. The new 4000 square foot building was completed for just under $300,000 and is more than four times larger than our previous facility. The new headquarters provides ample rehearsal space for today's members and will allow us to expand our program in the years to come.

The Corps is grateful to all of the donors who provided the funding and volunteer effort that allowed us to make this new building a reality. On behalf of the Fifes and Drums of York Town, I thank you for your generosity and your support.

Walt Akers, 2006 President
